Urduliz, Spain – 11 October 2018. LOINTEK is specialised in the design and construction of large-scale industrial equipment and uses its own in-house technology, characterised for its ability to withstand high pressures and temperatures. It was awarded the turnkey contract to supply three, large-scale, state-of-the-art industrial steam boilers as part of Talara oil refinery modernisation project, located on the Peruvian Pacific coast..
Each boiler has a steam production capacity of 330 Tn/hour and will power two electricity-producing turbines—only two boilers are required to guarantee power supply. One feature of our boilers includes the utilisation of residual gases generated by the refinery such as low pressure and calorific value syngas produced during Flexicock and reformulated gasoline (RFG) processes. The boilers do not only provide for the the combustion of difficult fluids but also provide for ultra-low nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions thanks to meticulously optimized engineering.
Each boiler weighs 925 tons and is 16-metres high—the same height as a five-storey building. The boilers will be built at the LOINTEK facility, located in Urduliz (Spain). Due to their size, they will be transported in modules to Peru from the Zierbana site, located in the Port of Bilbao. The first part to be shipped is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019 and boilers will be assembled once onsite.
This contract constitutes a significant milestone for LOINTEK’s steam boiler business line, which was only launched five years ago but is already present on four continents. It represents a success for this Basque firm as it cements its ability to deliver internationally competitive and technologically-sophisticated turnkey products..
An Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contractual agreement was signed with the Spanish firm Cobra and encompasses the design, construction, assembly and start-up of this equipment in 2020. It is part of the Talara Refinery modernisation project, owned by Petroperú. In addition to the provision of three boilers to Petroperú, LOINTEK was also awarded other contracts in 2018. It includes the provision of two boilers destined to Russia; four to Mexico; and two to the United Kingdom. In 2017, LOINTEK delivered one boiler in Madrid, three in Mexico, two in Egypt and one in Uzbekistan.
